Fire Blankets

Fire blankets are only suitable for one use and will need to be replaced after each application. Fire blankets can also be used in situations where a person’s clothing has caught fire. The fire blanket can be wrapped around the person to smother the flames. Note, the 1x1m sized blanket is not large enough for an adult clothing fire; the 1.8 x 1.8m blanket would be best suited for this purpose. Exelgard fire blankets come in a range of sizes. With the majority of fires in the home originating in the kitchen, fire blankets are an essential safety item to smother a fire caused by burning oil or fat on the stove. Locate your fire blanket near the entrance/exit to your kitchen. In the event of a fire, simply pull the tabs to release the blanket from its casing, hold vertically and place gently over the flaming vessel, completely covering the fire. Turn off the power as soon as it is safe for you to reach the switch.
