Exelgard provides Bathurst race with essential fire extinguishers

Exelgard, a leading distributor of fire products in Australia, has experienced life in the fast lane, equipping Bathurst Regional Council with 220 fire extinguishers for the fourth annual Bathurst 12 Hour race held in February at Mount Panorama Raceway.

Exelgard provided the Mount Panorama race track with 120 ABE extinguishers and 100 ARC foam extinguishers, designed to suppress flammable and combustible liquids like petrol. Ideal for car fires, the foam extinguishers provide a blanket covering which removes oxygen and providing the engine is immobilised prevents fuel from continuing to burn. The extinguishers were placed on the safety vehicles patrolling the track during the event offering an immediate solution for any cars catching fire. A further quantity was placed at strategic locations around the track.

Exelgard also had the opportunity to display its name on one of the cars participating in the race, driven by Scott Bucton from the Bucton Racing Team. The Exelgard logo appeared on each door panel, above the front windscreen and on the transport vehicle, and will remain on the car for 12 months. Exelgard will provide caps and polo shirts throughout the year for additional exposure.

“Bathurst Regional Council made the decision to purchase its own fire equipment in order for us to be self sufficient in case of an emergency. We’re delighted to have had Exelgard on board to provide vital fire protection at this type of event, providing us with peace of mind,” said Mark Reynor, Circuit Manager, Bathurst Regional Council.

“This was a great opportunity for us to provide essential fire protection solutions for this highly volatile environment,” said Mario Karadinovski, Exelgard Business Development Manager.

“It was an added bonus that we were able to get involved with the Bucton Racing Team and look forward to the branding opportunities this provides us with over the next year.”
